When you are doing your free background search online, you need to fully know and understand the laws that govern public records and access to personal information. Doing a background search typically involves an investigation into a person’s background to determine character, dependability, and financial standing. You do not want to hire a nanny with a history of abuse of any kind, theft or fraud. When you prepare to do your background search keep the following in mind:

Tip Number One: Search the Laws

Make sure you search the laws of the state where your nanny lives. Just because you are doing your Background Search online, does not mean that state laws do not matter.  What is permissible in one place may be disallowed in another.

Tip Number Two: Obtain Basic Information from the applicant

Before beginning your Background Search Free, be sure to obtain information like name, date of birth, social security number, and address of the person you are considering. You should have her sign a background check form.

Tip Number Three: What is Available Online?

Determine clearly what information will be available online and what will need manual footwork. You can hire a company or investigator to retrieve any information not available online.

Tip Number Four: Search the Following

Search personal details, followed by driving records, financial records, and criminal records. Background searches can be done through websites that record business and professional affiliations, credit record and score websites, sites that maintain public records and criminal records.
